Greater Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC)

The General Federation of Women’s Clubs is an international women’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.

GFWC club members are the heart of not only the Federation, but the communities in which they live and work. 

Members transform lives each day, not simply with monetary donations, but with hands-on tangible projects that provide immediate impact.  

With more than 60,000 members in affiliated clubs in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and more than a dozen countries, GFWC members work in their communities to support the arts, preserve natural resources, advance education, promote healthy lifestyles, and encourage civic involvement.

GFWC Virginia is a volunteer organization uniting 115 clubs in eight districts with 3068 members whose purpose is to provide service in our local communities, Virginia, and the world. 

Members are at least 18 years of age and participate through both General and Junior Clubs. Juniorette Clubs, comprised of high school students, are sponsored and advised by a federated club. 

What We Do

In 2024, members expended over 250,000 hours in service to our communities in the areas of Arts & Culture, Civic Engagement & Outreach, Education & Libraries, Environment, Health & Wellness, Domestic & Sexual Violence Awareness, and Advocates for Children.  In addition, over $1 million was donated, either through cash or in-kind contributions.
